ERCP is the process of taking X-rays after inserting the thin flexible tube endoscope through the mouth. ERCP basically used to diagnose the bile and pancreatic ducts. Bile and Pancreatic ducts are the tubes that carry liquid. Bile duct carries liquid that helps the liver to break down the food and pancreatic duct also carries fluid that helps the pancreas to break down the food. ERCP is usually performed when any of the two ducts is getting blocked. These can be blocked because of infection, tumor, sclerosis and inflammation of the pancreas.
